[Talk Title: Natural Section: Design rigor and the morphological process]

Michael Gayk earned an MFA in Jewelry and Metals from the University of Washington and a BFA in Metals Design from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit Michigan. Michael is Assistant Professor of Metal and Digital Design and Fabrication at SUNY New Paltz. Michael was born in upstate New York, raised on an apple farm, and learned the family business of tool and die machining. Michael’s work spans the range of metalsmithing, casting in iron, bronze, and various resins and plastics, and industrial design for automotive and home goods. He is also a design collaborator with Plural Studios for production jewelry, home goods, and industrial objects manufactured by means of advanced manufacturing.
